This raya was an interesting raya. I managed to had a little photography chat with my paklang. He's an oldtimer in photography enthusiast since the Film era. We discussed a lot on equipments. He's a big fan of canon so he's really into L lenses, I can understand why. I printed a few of raya photos and showed to him. He commented that something is lacking in my photos. He said that the characteristics are not there. He said its my lenses, lacking in contrast and some of the portraits look a bit washed out on the face. ok Paklang, I will look into it and try to fix it.
I also get to have a little chat my angku-E. (Uncle E). He's an established painter and an art guru. His medium is oil painting(acryllic I think). abstract is his specialty. He agreed that photography could be an art if one puts effort in creating the piece. There's a lot to be learned in terms of composition and lights especially. He advised me to learn exposure without a flash unit first, its the only way to learn characteristics of lights.
He said that the camera is nothing but a medium. Medium meaning that learning how to manipulate the medium is essential, but what is more important is what we are trying to show to our audience. No need big expensive equipments if you don't know what you are doing and why you are doing it.
well said from a painter who uses oil for his art. We should learn more from the real Art folks. Moga2 dapat tempias tempias sikit ilmu.
