New lens plak

This is a picture I took with my sal1870. I was waiting at KL sentral and suddenly a nice couple walked by me wearing very romantic shirt. huhuuhu.. I took the opportunity to take their pictures(with their permission of coz). I took a few shots but I didnt notice the guy was sweating really hard. It was a really hot afternoon so i dont blame him, I was sweating really hard myself. But I guess next time I should bring a spare tissue eh..

ok, last Sunday I went to KL to buy me a new lense. Its not brand new, its the Minolta maxxum 1.7. The lense is almost 20 years old, I was buying it second hand from a guy I met in the forum PhotoMalaysia. Albnok volunteered to come check the lens whether its still in good condition or not. He said 'OK la'. So yay! I bought the lense....hahah. This lense gives great bokeh. Even though people say this is not enough yet.. personally I feel this is way better than the kit lense in terms of its sharpness. But the range only 50mm la. cannot zoom in and out.
oh yeah, I accidentally met Fareed(the one in the middle) at Lowyat. oyo.. Malaysia so small. Fareed said that he was there to buy something for his work. Fareed is newly wed, he invited me to his wedding last month but I couldnt attend because the wedding is in Kedah. Sowy Fareed..
Anyway, the picture here is the one I took using the new 50mm. Yay! If I were to use my sal1870 during this lighting condition, sure shake one.. its a good thing to have f1.7 when u need it. huhuhu.. After this no more shaking hopefully.

Seafood Garden

Last week my girlfriend asked me out on a date. She said that she wanted to eat at The Seafood Garden. It was not actually a date since we had a few other friends with us. (we dont have a car, we tumpang).
I took this opportunity to take pictures of the food there. Since I still dont have any experience taking pictures food, so i thought to myself why not try this one. we always need to start somewhere right? Even though Loctor Mayat of PhotoMalaysia had already reviewed this restaurant, I too wanted to review it. oh well, here it goes.

This is the restaurant's Signboard. It's a restaurant, not a garden.

This is the Chinese version of the signboard. I'm guessing that it says "Garden". Im not sure about this.

Okay, this is another entrance to the restaurant. This door leads to a non-smoking section.

Very clean atmosphere. Air conditioned and very good watchacallit ambience /ambiau/.

As you can see here, the restaurant has its own serviette with the "Garden Seafood" logo printed on it. Note the big 'halal' logo. Yes, food here is very halal for the muslims.

This is among the dish that we ordered. Alacarte is cheaper for this type of restaurant. This here is Sotong Butter Rice. Its RM7.50 a plate. very worth it. Its yummy I tell you. you have to come and try it yourself.

This is 'Cucur Terung'. I never knew that a veggie like terung could be a very tasty dish. Come here and your kids could learn how to eat veggie the fun way. Huhu. Anyway, I took a lot of pictures of the food we ordered. But unfortunately not all the pictures are presentable enough to put on this blog. heheh, still have shaky hands under low light. either I have to practice yoga to prevent handshake or maybe next time I could take pictures of food with my future to be lens 50mm Minolta 1.7. Till then, we will wait and see.

Anak Yatim Raudah

This is abuya or paklong. Even though his teachings are a bit questionable, it seems like he had done a lot in helping the orphans here. His campaign has something to do with 'solat 5 waktu' and melawan gejala sosial. ok la kot. "dulu kita lawan komunis, sekarang kita bersatu lawan dadah".

the Raudhah kids doing their nashid performance. some of them are still 8-9 years old, already mastered the percussions..

the 'food team'.

post mortem

last weeked our college, ZABA residential college held a program to Anak Yatim home in Gombak. Rumah Penyayang Raudah. it was a great experience for me since i get to know more about anak yatim and stuff. I was asked to go to take pictures for them. It was my first attempt taking pictures for event, so most of the pictures are not that great.

it was an eye opening. i felt very sad to leave the orphans, they were very sweet. I even had the crazy idea of taking one for anak angkat someday. so young and innocent and already have to experience the hardship of life.

sunset again

the other day, after finishing my assignments, i went out again for sunset photo shoot. the sky was great so i started taking pictures. And then i noticed there this three guys sitting together enjoying the sunset, i ask them whether i could take their pictures. they said ok, so i took their picture with the sunsetting as the background. They seem to enjoy posing for the camera, so i asked them to jump shouting 'YEAH!'. i use the camera speedlight to avoid them being silhoutte. this is my first sunset picture with people as subjects. later on would love to buy external flash so i could do fill light better and to make them look more natural.
